How it works

The calculator reduces no-load speed as the current load takes a larger share of rated capacity, down toward stall.

Estimated speed = no-load speed × (1 − 0.75 × load ÷ rated capacity), not below zero.

Why does line speed drop under load?

The motor works against more resistance and draws more current, so drum speed falls as load rises.

Is the first layer faster than a full drum?

Yes in the real world. This estimate does not model drum layers; it only scales speed with load.

What if load exceeds rated capacity?

The speed result is clamped at a stalled pull. Do not exceed the winch or rope rating.
