How it works

The calculator uses engine RPM, the overall drive ratio, and tire diameter to estimate miles per hour and kilometers per hour.

Estimated mph = (RPM × tire diameter in inches) ÷ (overall ratio × 336). Convert to km/h by multiplying mph by 1.60934.

Why is calculated ATV speed different from GPS?

The formula ignores wheel slip, drivetrain loss, governor limits, and aerodynamics. Use it to compare gearing, not to certify top speed.

What overall ratio should I enter?

Multiply the selected transmission ratio by the final-drive or sprocket ratio. The gear ratio calculator can produce that number.

Do larger tires increase calculated speed?

Yes, at the same RPM and gearing, a taller tire raises the estimated speed because it covers more ground per revolution.
