How it works

The angle is the arctangent of height divided by ramp length, using the same unit for both measurements.

Ramp angle = arctan(height ÷ ramp length).

Ramp Angle Calculator FAQs

What ramp angle is too steep for an ATV?

Many riders prefer staying near or under 15 degrees. Low clearance machines need a longer ramp.

Do I measure the usable ramp length?

Measure the length that actually spans from ground to deck, not folded storage length.

Can I mix feet and inches?

No. Convert both measurements to inches (or both to centimetres) before calculating.
